October 8, 2008 - Brad Johner Helps Raise 3000 Child Sponsorships for Impoverished Children Worldwide
When World Vision set out to find 1000 new child sponsorships from the province of Saskatchewan, they enlisted the partnership of long time artist associate, Brad Johner.
Johner's participation began when he boarded a plane to Nicaragua where he spent four days viewing the work of the organization and shooting television spots for the campaign which would air later that summer.
To officially launch the Saskatchewan 1000 Campaign at the local level, Brad hosted a concert which featured performances by Michelle Wright, Charlie Major, and Theresa Sokyrka.
Later that month, he supported additional World Vision events including the opening of the One Life Pavilion and lent his signature personality to the cause by appearing on TV, radio shows, posters and mail box flyers.
In the end World Vision not only reached their goal but nearly tripled it, recording 2991 new sponsorships within the six week period.
"Saskatchewan people have a history of taking care of their neighbors whether across the road, province or country," Johner commented. "I'm proud of the people of Saskatchewan and extremely happy we trippled the goal for this campaign. It's gratifying to know that 3000 children living in extreme poverty will be saved worldwide."
